Fitzpatrick Family Vineyards Big Leap Chardonnay 2014

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaSavoury wild herbs, flint, baked apple and fine, potent citrus pith ring through this fuller, reductive chardonnay from Greata Ranch. A lengthy 41 day wild ferment in barrel (15 percent new) before ten months on the lees has upped the complexities here, on a bed of creamy lees, dried herbs and smoked salts A kiss of sweet vanilla applesauce lingers in the wake. Would love to see a tighter acidity in future to really make this wine striking. That said, a very impressive first showing from this label, from a family that needs no introduction in the Okanagan, The Fitzpatricks (founders of CedarCreek).Tasted: 27 December 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
