Calchaqui Valley, Salta, North, ArgentinaSimple cabernet sauvignon from Calchaqui Valley, the warm blackberry, black cherry fruit absorbing the year in new oak fairly soundly, save for some powdery, wood-strident tannins on the back end. Before that astringent finish, the roasted coffee, earthy blackcurrant, tobacco and green-tinged resin notes are appealingly fresh.
