Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Pinot Blanc 2013
Alsace, FranceThe ZH pinot blanc is actually a blend 65/35 pinot blanc/auxerrois from two sites: Herrenweg and Rotenberg Vineyards. The Rotenberg (red limestone) ripens later, bringing structure and acidity, while the warm alluvial soils at Herrenweg brings richness and aromatics. Fortunately in warm years, like 2013, the pinot blanc actually retains its acidity. Look for a fresh elegant style with mineral and wet stone wafting from the glass. The fruit is restrained, mostly white and yellow and disappears into a long, dry, food-friendly finish.
