CedarCreek Amphora Wine Project Desert Ridge Meritage 2014

Osoyoos, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaRock roses, dense raspberry and an earthy clay throughout this natural wine from CedarCreek, a project now in its second year. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec from their Desert Ridge vineyard in Osoyoos was destemmed into amphora without any additions at all (including sulphur) and was sealed and left for nine months. When the top was cracked, this was pressed off and foot tread before a stint in stainless for two months prior to being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Grippy, raspy raspberry, tobacco, dusty stone, plum and medicinal black cherry carried on finely sticky tannins to a drying and warming (15 percent) finish. An adventuresome project, though at this price point and with only 35 cases made, one that is hard to follow closely.Tasted: 19 December 2016Tasted by: Prices:
