BenMarco Expresivo 2014

Gualtallary, Tupungato, Valle de Uco, Tunuyán, Central Region, Mendoza, ArgentinaThe BenMarco Expresivo takes Dominio de Plata to new heights and extreme sites in search of the best soils of Mendoza. The fruit is an 80/20 mix of malbec/cabernet franc grown at 1,285 metres above sea level at Gualtallary, in the Uco Valley, perhaps the most premium wine site in all of Argentina. The maceration is 30 days, before spending 14 months in 100 percent new French oak. There is a freshness here you seldom see in red wines with both black and red fruit aromas dominating a savoury base. Dense soft textures of chalky tannins and stony, mineral undercurrents preview smoky black currant, licorice and cocoa powder. More terroir and less winemaking is giving this wine a fresh look. Best with steak now but you can cellar this five to seven years.Tasted: 13 December 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
