Freemark Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon Sycamore Vineyards 2010

Rutherford, Napa Valley, California, United StatesSix years seems about right to get to this idiosyncratic cabernet from Sycamore Vineyard near Rutherford, Napa Valley. The blend is 85 percent cabernet sauvignon, mixed with merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot. The colour is opaque, the nose a spicy, minty affair with pure black fruit flecked with notes of resin, earth and brown spices. You don’t taste that many savoury Napa Valley reds but this is one of them. Muscular and rich, the textures easily offset the spice and blazing cassis fruit. Just coming into its own now and should be perfect by 2020. A T-bone steak is the match.Tasted: 06 September 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
