River Stone Stones Throw 2013
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaRiver Stone is a tiny estate winery operating just south of McIntyre Bluff in the south Okanagan Valley. The Stones Throw red blend is made with estate fruit off River Rock Vineyards, surrounding the Oliver winery. We like the bright fruit attack with ringing acidity that adds a tautness through the finish. Savoury black cherries, sagebrush and moderate vanilla/oak undertones. Tannins are slightly sticky, reflective of the hot site. This will improve in bottle over the next five years. Well done. The wine was aged in French oak barrels, one third new, for some 14 months. Merlot malbec and cabernet sauvignon are at the heart of the blend and they all lie within a ‘stone's throw’ of each other.Tasted: 02 August 2016Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Treve RingPrices:BC | $24.90 | 750ml | winery direct, VQA stores, private liquor stores |
