Mission Hill Reserve Chardonnay 2014
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaRipe, creamy, and full, this is one generous chardonnay from MHFE's Oliver, Osoyoos, and Naramata Ranch vineyards. Ten months in American oak (27 percent new) has made its mark adding a streaking vanilla glow to this sun-ripened-sweet fruit. Pineapple, white peach and cloves ride herd over the hazelnuts, and a spicy, hot, gingersnap finish. Sweet wood over sweet fruit takes us back in time but not to a place we love. We would love to see the less is more rule employed here rather than what is more of more.
