Lock and Worth Merlot 2015

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis is unlike any other Okanagan merlot you've tasted, and that is a good thing. Allow this youthful, fresh red some air time to blow off a reductive note and you'll be rewarded with a pure view of 1995 planted, sandy soiled Naramata merlot. Low interventionist, this was gently destemmed before five days of skin contact, then basket pressed and fermented in neutral French oak where it spent seven months before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. Gently sweet ripe plum, black cherry and wild raspberry is suspended along a bright, fresh and hazy palate. Light-medium bodied, with feather soft tannins and a finely rasped white pepper spice on the juicy finish. This is a gulpable, soft red that will shift your perception about what merlot is / can be.Tasted: 20 July 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
