Mastroberardino Radici Taurasi 2008

Campania, ItalyRadici means 'roots' in Italian, and references the winery's intent to preserve the local grapes here in the volcanic soils of this DOCG in Campania. Potent leather, ink, wild herbs, deep brambles and dark earth continue into thick dried cherries, ample medicinal notes and hint of sweet, dried figs. Tannins are ripe and sticky and this carries much heat on the finish. Two years in French and Slovenian wood and one more in bottle before this was unleashed, and it wears its time well. Pair with big roasted game dishes or long braised lamb shank.Tasted: 13 February 2016Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
