Rodney Strong Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2013

Sonoma County, California, United StatesIn short 2013 was an ideal vintage, a dry, frost-free spring, a warm summer without heat spikes, and a warm, rain free autumn. The nose is tropical and bright and that’s with 60 percent of the wine spending 10 months in barrel (85 percent of which is new French oak). The attack is fresh with intense red apple/pineapple flavours with creamy textures and stony, leesy mineral bits in the aftertaste. A terrific style for Rodney Strong that could be even leaner. Perfect with chicken pesto pasta. The Sonoma Coast sits at southern and western end of Sonoma County - a distinct region that is directly influenced by the Pacific Ocean. The Petaluma Gap channels coastal fog and sea breezes to the vineyard every late afternoon, where cool nights and warm days of filtered sunlight bring out the very best in chardonnay.Tasted: 26 January 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
