Rodney Strong Brothers Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesThe Brothers Ridge vineyard is 141 acres are planted to mostly cabernet sauvignon with small blocks of merlot and malbec is located just east of Cloverdale. Loamy sandstone, fractured shale and ancient greenstone at near 1,000 feet face west for maximum afternoon sun. The 2012 vintage was pretty much perfect from start to finish. This is a big, blockbuster style cabernet with that generosity you get in the Alexander Valley. Dark blackberry/blueberry fruit flavours with chocolate and tobacco persistent from the front to the back of the palate. Plenty youthful this will cellar easily for a decade if not more. Prime rib or New York steaks are required now. Very impressive. Block 1B gently slopes to the east at an elevation of 450 feet and was picked on October 4. Block 8A, at about 850 feet elevation was picked October 10 and blocks 5 mid and 5 North are on a steep hillside ranging from 700-800 feet elevation came in on October 11.Tasted: 28 January 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $99.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Mark Anthony Brands |
