Rodney Strong Brothers Single Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California, United StatesThe Brothers Ridge vineyard is 141 acres are planted to mostly cabernet sauvignon with small blocks of merlot and malbec is located just east of Cloverdale. Loamy sandstone, fractured shale and ancient greenstone at near 1,000 feet face west for maximum afternoon sun. The 2011 vintage was damp and wet through July and continued cool through to September. Most of the fruit came of the "greenstone" block in late October. This big, rich cabernet but still in that Alexander Valley way it is generous. Expect big dark blackberry fruit flavours flecked with black cherry cedar and tobacco. The structure is firm and youthful suggesting five to eight years of cellaring for best results. Prime rib or New York steaks are required now.Tasted: 23 January 2015Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $99.00 | 750ml | speculative listing - Mark Anthony Brands |
