La Crema Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2013

Sonoma Coast, Sonoma County, California, United StatesFrom the original name La Crema Vinera, or ‘best of the vine,’ this brand celebrates over 35 years of cool-climate winemaking. Like the terrific 2012 season the 2013 was near-perfect. Cool weather late in the season allowed for deep flavour development on the vine. The ferment is open top with multiple daily, hand punch downs. The finish wine spends seven and a half months in 100% French oak barrels. All of the silky fruit comes from within 30 miles of the ocean. The different lots were kept separate and blended to balance flavour and textures with lots from extreme Sonoma Coast, Russian River Valley, Los Carneros and Green Valley. Expect a fresh lively entry of mixed red fruits: cherries cranberries and wild raspberries with a spicy undercurrent. The textures are supple and slippery the finish long and almost sweet with bits of orange and tea leaves. Serve with salmon, roasted birds or soft cheeses.Tasted: 25 January 2016Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
