Bodegas Ordonez Zerran Montsant 2011

Montsant, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainThe Zerran Tinto is a 50/40/10 mix of Montsant garnacha (old vines) carignan also know as mazuelo and syrah. The vineyard sits at some 500-600 meters above sea level and is protected by a series of mountains. The soils are Priorat-like with Montsant said to be a bit more complex with a mixture of slate (llicorella), sandy clay, and chalk. The nose is a mix of stony mineral notes that preview a soft, juicy, red with floral, dark fruit flavours. Round supple and ready to drink. The wine is aged for 10 months in second and third use French oak barrels. Fair value.Tasted: 12 January 2016Tasted by: Prices:
