Domaine de Cébène Les Bancèls 2013

Faugères, Coteaux du Languedoc, Languedoc, Sud de France, FranceLes Bancèls is grown on two parcels: a terraced mound planted to syrah and grenache facing north and northeast; the mourvèdre vines faces south. The organic fruit comes off terraced vines planted over schist. Winemaker Brigitte Chevalier new to the region since 2008 appears to have an innate touch according to the palate and styling of this delicious red. It would be easy to mistake this wine for a Rhône red from the hilly Gigondas area. Expect a fresh, red-fruited wine awash in white pepper and a terrific acidity. The palate is velvety and fresh with a strong undercurrent of dried herbs or garrigue so prevalent in the south. Lamb and or beef is the match. Stock up. Should be on every restaurant list the city.Tasted: 28 December 2015Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
