Château Pesquié Ventoux Terrasses Rouge 2013
Ventoux, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceThe ’13 Les Terrasses is a 60/40 blend of grenache and syrah, or almost. There are traces of carignan, cinsault and mourvèdre. The site sits about 300 meters above sea level over gravelly soil covered with pebbles and limestones, less rich in iron oxide sands and clays. Some thirty percent of the mix has seen oak for about six months, but none of it is new. Expect a spicy (black pepper) nose with a big, juicy, red fruit laced with garrigue. The tannins are silky but creamy, which will help this wine live through 2020 — versatile chicken, pizza, and cassoulet red.
