Stag's Hollow Viognier Marsanne Kiln House Vineyard 2013

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaIt's not so often you get to taste a wee vertical of orange wine from BC, but with three vintages in front of me of Stag's hollow Viognier Marsanne, today's my day. This was the first of three in a series of library wines, with 30 cases made. The last time I tasted this vintage was the fall of 2015. Now, almost two years on, this 55/45 viognier/marsanne had nothing added or taken away - the first "natural wine" winemaker Dwight Sick produced. Yellow golden in the glass, with potent Valencia orange, apricot along a fine, streamline body, lightly fuzzy with texture from two weeks skin contact, and almond hued, thanks to the time in Acacia barrels. Streaming on the palate, with a fine grip around the sides, this has mellowed with time, but is no less impressive as when first tasted.Tasted: 25 July 2017Tasted by: Prices:
