Quidni Merlot Barrel Select 2011
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThe Quidni barrel select series is just that, individual barrels selected from a bunch; in this instance they made only 42 cases. The nose is a bit reminiscent of Chilean merlot with notes of bay leaf and sagebrush. You get the coolness of 2011 and the acidity that pokes through the along the bottom of the wine. I like the weight and freshness the tannins are well managed but the tartness is difficult to overcome. The wine is aged in French oak.
