Nichol Vineyard Syrah 2012

Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWhat would you expect from the oldest syrah vines planed in Canada, growing on sloping granite at the northern end of the Naramata Bench? Yup, all that and more, can be found in this sustainably farmed, unfiltered and textured red. Broken stone, wild blackberry and thorn aromas open the savoury, medium bodied red. Alluring violets lead the fresh palate, with dried and fresh herbs, black cherry, wild raspberry, stone and fine pepper supported by finely grippy tannins. A vein of tight acidity throughout, to the lingering peppery finish. Finessed, savoury, serious, drinking very well now in youth but will reward with five plus years in the cellar.Tasted: 09 September 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
