Maverick Estate Winery Pinot Gris 2014
Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaLove that this is hand-picked and whole bunch pressed to reduce phenolics. A portion is naturally fermented in oak before it is blended and aged on its fine lees for 3 months. In conjunction with a warm year this is a super ripe honeyed gris with intense note tropical fruits and ripe guava. All that said it’s fresh and bright, with a crease of minerality, but a little too much sugar to be considered serious. It will have legions of fans nonetheless.
