Gérard Bertrand La Forge Legend Vintage Rivesaltes Ambré 1974

Rivesaltes, Les Pyrénées Orientales, Vin de Pays d'Oc, Languedoc, Sud de France, FranceAkin to port, Rivesaltes' fortification during fermentation arrests the yeast and leaves the wine's natural sugars as sweetening factor. The wines are then aged slowly in wooden casks, becoming a tawny, amber hue as the wine matures. Complex bouquet of orange peel, marzipan, dried apricots and marmalade. Crystallized ginger spices the very smooth palate, one marked with orange, caramelized sugar, caramel and beeswax. The body is quite light and lifted, especially considering the concentration and complexities found in this 41 year old wine. Exceptional length and a pair for extra old Gouda or fine almond or walnut biscotti.Tasted: 27 August 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
