Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalTaylor's boasts extensive reserves of very old cask aged Tawny Ports, and as of 1964, have released a series of fifty year old Tawnies from a single vintage (Colheita). Deeper mahogany hued, sweeter, round and full, with caramel, walnut, toasted oak, burnished orange, marmalade, cinnamon, tobacco and lightly smoked cedar notes on a concentrated, voluptuous palate. This carries a lot of power still, all with a crisp edge of acidity. Caramel notes and tobacco lingers on the exceptional finish, one that vibrates in the mouth. Such power and showing such youth, still. Fifty years young.Tasted: 21 December 2016Tasted by: Prices:

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalLike its 1964 predecessor this 1965 Colheita, single vintage tawny, is part of the ongoing series of releases of featuring 50 year old Taylor Colheitas. A field blend with distinction that offers up those long slippery silky textures underlying its mahogany, molasses, caramel aromas and toffee, ginger, walnut/vanilla fig flavours. More old tawny in style than anything else; you are sipping history. Perhaps a bit more man-ly than the 1964 but really there is precious little to choose between the two releases. Its ready to drink but it wouldn’t change a lot in the cellar over the next decade.Tasted: 16 July 2015Tasted by: Prices:
