Pepperjack Saltram of Barossa Red 2013

Barossa Valley, South Australia, AustraliaBarossa Red is a Barossa blend of shiraz, grenache, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec, sangiovese, tempranillo, cabernet franc - a real dog's breakfast that has become a very popular, accessible, round red blend. Named in honour of one of Australia's first winemakers, William Salter, this opens with ripe blackberry, sweet raspberry and subtle toast. The ripe berry fruit continues on the palate, with gentle smoke, a shot of herbal mustard seed and ample cracked black pepper. Tannins are ripe and soft, finishing with an astringent squeeze. A hot finish will be mitigated with burgers from the barbie.Tasted: 31 July 2015Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
