Château de la Gardine Châteauneuf du Pape 2011

Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FrancePeppery, smoky, black berry jam, meaty, licorice, chocolate, resin aromas with a touch of garrigues. Ripe, round, juicy, fresh palate with light, grainy tannins. Savoury, garrigues, smoky, meaty, black pepper, black plum, black cherry, dark chocolate, black licorice, anise and tobacco flavours. Good fruit and intensity if a bit rustic and hot on the finish with the 15% alcohol. Drinkable now but should improve with 2-5 years. Chateau de la Gardine is a 60/20 15/ 5 mix of grenache, syrah, mourvèdre, and cinsault is fermented in concrete and aged in large 5000 litre vats for one to five years.Tasted: 02 July 2015Tasted by: Stuart TobePrices:
