Château de la Gardine Châteauneuf du Pape 2009
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceCertainly one of the best Gardine's we have tasted since 2001. It has all the spicy earthy, black cherry, and licorice root you can handle along with a whack of black currants and chocolate. It goes on forever with plenty more black cherry, pepper, clove and mineral notes. Intense and packed full of life this one needs another decade to reach peak form. Chateau de la Gardine is a 60/20 15/ 5 mix of grenache, mourvèdre, syrah and Muscardin aged in large vats and barrels for about 12 months.Tasted: 17 October 2012Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:AB | $45.00 | 750ml | fine wine shops |
