Tommasi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2010

Veneto, ItalyDried cherry, worn leather, dried figs and dust - those are the notes that green upon first sniff of this Amarone Della Valpoicella Classico. The ripe, burnt sugar sweetness picks up on the dense palate, where charred marshmallow, Christmas cake and cracked cloves enter in, as do whiffs of VA. Tannins are ripe, round and sticky, and acidity is moderate enough to draw the density to the bitter espresso, bitter chocolate finish. A distinct style, corvina, rondinella and molinara grapes are dried for four months prior to pressing, and the fermented, raisinated juice is aged for three years in Slavonian oak barrels. Pour now with dried fruit sauced hearty meat dishes.Tasted: 13 February 2016Tasted by: Prices:
