The Invisible Man Rioja 2011

Rioja Alta, Rioja, SpainThe name is a bit kitschy but thankfully the wine is not. This 95/5 tempranillo/mazuelo has it going on with its fresh red fruit nose and pepper that spills on to the palate. Dry and linear it has typically light tannins but we love the dusty, black cherry, fruity, mineral flavours that cry out for food. There's a touch of toasted oak in the back end but nothing that would interfere with a winter menu. Try this with lamb chops for a great match. Made from very old vines.Tasted: 24 April 2015Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
