Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaVerglas is from the old French, meaning a thin layer of clear ice over rock. I deem it intensity without overpowering. A blend of old vine oranienstenier and pinot blanc, the grapes for this icewine were 55 percent botrytis affected, adding layers of complexity to an already highly evolved and intense wine. Silken sweet honey, brown butter, mandarin and ripe apricot, roasted almonds, fresh pineapple, balanced by pure lime zest acidity and complemented by a touch of savoury intrigue. Impressive length.Tasted: 03 April 2015Tasted by: Prices:
Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaStoneboat has something going on with Verglas and its unusual mix of oranienstenier and pinot blanc. Look for fresh, limey intense apricot marmalade and honey aromas that draw you into the glass. The palate is fresh and juicy with green apple, honey, marmalade and egg yolk flavours. Clean and fresh this is a delicious bottle of icewine.Tasted: 19 November 2013Tasted by: Prices:
