Gunderloch Fritz's Riesling 2013

Rheinhessen, GermanyRipe pear, white peach and lemon drop open this juicy riesling. Though Fritz's, named for principal Fritz Hasselbach, is a punchy, catchy intro to their brand, the grapes come from the same area as their premium wines, grown in a special part of the Rheinhessen called the Roter Hang, or Red Hill. These slate soils are red in colour, and the iron oxide deposits impart a lot of minerality to the wines. The plentiful orchard fruit carries through the juicy, mid-sweet palate, finishing with tangerine and a stony spiciness.Tasted: 16 April 2015Tasted by: Prices:
