Rioja Alta, Rioja, SpainThis is a terrific bottle of Rioja. Deep dark and dense the fruit remains bright but not candied and it is flecked with bits of black licorice, mushrooms and new leather. The structure is smooth and long and its fun to drink even now at five years old. The wine is aged like many others 18 months in mixed American and French oak barrels.
