Haywire Lunar New Year Red 2012
Oliver, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaA special limited release of 200 cases, to celebrate the Lunar New Year and usher in the Year of the Sheep in 2015. Here bright gamay is splashed with spicy syrah, specifically created to pair with Asian flavours (and with a striking label to match). Subtle spiced cherry and strawberry aromas open to a lush palate, noticeably carrying some sugar (10 g/l RS) and notes of strawberry jam, black cherry, huckleberry, candied beets, leaf and fine cracked white pepper. Tannins are mild and a bit sticky, and acidity is moderate, as is alcohol (pleasant 12.6%). Try this with caramel chicken or peking duck.
