Villa di Capezzana Carmignano 2010

Carmignano, Tuscany, ItalyCarmignano recovered its DOC status in 1975 and obtained its DOCG designation in the 1990. The blend is an 80/20 mix of sangiovese/cabernet sauvignon grown over schist and limestone that spends about 15 months in wood and another year in bottle. 2010 was an amazing vintage in Tuscany but it is more classic than generous. Expect a big firm structure with fine acidity and plenty dry extract. Earthy mushroom, red fruits mingle but have yet to assimilate each other. Like an awkward teenager this will need time to grow into its structure. If you drink it now make sure the meal is substantial as in osso buco or roasted meats. Authentic.
