Miguel Torres Santa Digna Estelado Rosé 2011

Valle del Curicó, Region del Valle Central, ChileAn interesting ode to the first grape variety planted in Chile back in 1550s. It was known as Listán Prieto in Spain, in New World colonies it was tagged the mission grape while in Chile it would become país. Today it is estimated that there are some 15,000 hectares of pais, second only to cabernet sauvignon. The vines are concentrated in the dry interior and coastal areas of the Maule and Bio Bío regions where they are an amazing 8000 producers. Expect a pale raspberry colour with some medium mousse and fresh floral, earthy, tobacco, cherry aromas. The attack is crisp and in the drier style with spicy, tobacco, floral, strawberry, citrus flavours. Perfect for finger foods.Tasted: 12 February 2012Tasted by: Prices:
