Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, CanadaOrtega is a müller-thurgau and siegerrebe cross whose job it is to ripen earlier although normally most ortega you would encounter would be richer and sweeter than this version. This Cowichan valley version is anything but fat, in fact its fresh, skinny, steely full of acidity from front to back. The palate is a mouth-watering mix of citrus/mineral flavours with just hint of licorice in the finish. Classy and food friendly and low-ish alcohol.
