Beringer Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
Napa Valley, California, United StatesA difficult year in Napa has yielded a well-constructed New World cabernet that is better than a lot of the competition. The fruit is a mix of floor and top mountain fruit and it has been well chosen. French barrels, one half new and aged for fourteen months has complemented the structure rather than dominate. The attack is fresh with cedar/cassis notes and plums, licorice, chocolate, tobacco and a hint of sweetness. There is a dash of petit verdot in the mix for added aromatics.
