Louis Bernard Côtes du Rhône Villages Rouge 2013
Côtes du Rhône Villages, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceYou can expect a slightly more complex structure and bouquet from a Villages versus the Cotes du Rhone and in 2013 lower yield as well. The blend is 70/20/10 black grenache/syrah and mourvèdre. A three week maceration contributes to a deeper, richer "Villages" style. Look for ripe black fruit flavours with a touch of red plum for freshness and that characteristic liquorice and spice finish. Grilled flank steak or hard cheeses are an excellent pairing. Maison Louis Bernard works with over 20 vineyard owners in the Côtes-du-Rhône Villages appellation which spreads across some 4000 ha and 95 villages in Ardèche, Vaucluse, Drôme and Gard.Tasted: 15 June 2014Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $16.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
