Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon To-Kalon Vineyard 2009
Napa Valley, California, United StatesThe To Kalon vineyard is 100 percent cabernet sauvignon and is the essence of the vineyard. Only the finest cuts make into this wine that effortlessly delves into the seamless. Elegance with power or intensity is the hallmark of To Kalon but like all the red made from the site it has that signature black berry savoury fruit and smooth chalky tannins. At nearly 16 percent alcohol it has power but you don't really notice it given the wine's finesse. It was a fabulous year with only a couple of heat spikes; the fruit was picked from September 25 through October 1. All hand-harvested it spends 43 days in contact with its skins followed by twenty six months of aging in new French oak. Only 279 cases produced.
