M. Chapoutier De L'Orée Ermitage Blanc 2010
Hermitage, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceThe 2010 De l'Orée is slightly lighter in colour and fresher in context than the La Meal. The nose is mineral mix of stones and honey with lemons and floral undertones. Intense for a white wine and persistent in the mouth. The wine is aged in all new, 500-liter demi-muids but you don't feel it, if anything it has wonderful precision and freshness. A seriously stunning white wine. That rivals many of the great Burgundies made further north. Understated opulence. Chapoutier thinks it will keep half a century. Made with 100 per cent marsanne vines that are 60 to 70 years old grown over very old fluvioglacial alluvial deposits.Tasted: 05 March 2014Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $200.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
