Wynns Coonawarra Estate John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon Limited Release 2008

Coonawarra, South Australia, AustraliaThe first John Riddoch was released in 1982. Always made in limited quantities and only in the best years it is the flagship cabernet made at Wynns. The 08 is 100 percent cabernet that is matured some 15 months in new & used French oak barriques. Typically floral on the nose with savoury cherry chocolate notes mixed with cedar blueberries and cassis. The attack is rich and smooth with dense fine-grained tannins that lead into a mix of vanilla, violets and smoky, coffee, blueberry cassis. A powerful but elegant example of Coonawarra cabernet that is less foursquare and frankly more delicious. This should age effortlessly for more than a decade. Serve this alongside your favourite cut of steak.Tasted: 26 November 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
