Shardana 2007
Santadi, Cagliari, Sardinia, ItalyThis is one powerful black wine. The attack is fierce with spicy, warm, raisin-y fruit dominating. The style is wild if not rustic with meaty, leathery undertones. The blend is 85/15 carignano/syrah although it appears as if the warm vintage is the dominate force here along with liquorice and pruny fruit. Try this with roasted meats. Neil Empson and Santadi along with winemaker Piero Cella found vineyards of carignano still growing on their own roots - some over 100 years old at the southern tip of Sardegna.Tasted: 19 November 2013Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:BC | $35.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
