Frescobaldi Mormoreto Castello di Nipozzano 2009
Tuscany, ItalyMostly second year oak is used to preserve the fruit for up to 24 months. Look for great colour. Mormoreto has style with finesse, the nose is fragrant with spice, liquorice, cinnamon and dried herbs. The tannins are rich but fine-grained and they support quite a bit of black fruit. Try this with osso buco style dishes or old cheeses. The 25 ha Mormoreto was planted in 1976; the first vintage was 1983 and only the best years are made. There were no wines from 1986, 1987, 1989, 1992, 1998 or 2002. The site is planted cabernet sauvignon, merlot, cabernet franc and petit verdot all of which have over 150 years of history in Tuscany. The altitude is an impressive 250m to 300m above sea level.Tasted: 29 November 2013Tasted by: Stuart TobePrices:BC | $60.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
