Chateau Montrose 2009
St. Estèphe, Haut-Médoc, Médoc, Bordeaux, FranceI wasn't huge fan of the Montrose in the Master Classification tasting with its leather, bretty nose and austere earthy elements all sitting under some heavyweight smoky toasted oak. The blend is 65% cabernet sauvignon, 29% merlot, 5% cabernet franc and 1% petit verdot. Inky dark with some black fruits deeply buried under the oak. This will need a decade or more of bottle age but I'm wondering if it will survive the leather and game notes that are only likely to get stronger. Hard to believe Parker scored this 100 points.
