Altesino Rosso di Montalcino 2011

Tuscany, ItalyYou are going to love this Rosso di Montalcino, made from a mix of younger sangiovese grapes picked from all four vineyards, two facing south and two facing north at Altesino. A warm vintage has produced a slightly riper style with intense black cherry and even blackberries but with a modicum of Brunello traits leather, earth and mushrooms to add interest and complexity. It's all aged in large wooden vats to protect the fruit and to preserve the acidity and elegance which is the hallmark of Altesino's wine. Big game dishes, stews and meaty pasta dishes work best here.Tasted: 18 October 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
