Dow's Vintage Port 2011

Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalThe mix is Touriga Franca (40%), Touriga Nacional (36%), Sousão (10%) and 14% of old mixed plantings. Quinta do Bomfim is the back bone (35%) of the blend with Quinta da Senhora da Ribeira (42%) adds the aromatics. Quinta do Santinho (14%) and Quinta da Cerdeira (9%) make up the rest. Intense purple colour. The nose is an intense peppery, black cherry jam, dark plum and chocolate aromas with savoury, thyme, black tea aromas. Rich, full, intense, tannic but round and juicy with balanced sweetness. Floral, black cherry jam, peppery, black liquorice, cardamom, chocolate and dried fig flavours. Excellent intensity and balance with a tannic backbone, plenty of finesse and not too sweet. 60,000 bottles.
