Ogier Crozes-Hermitage Les Brunnelles Rouge 2009

Crozes Hermitage, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceLes Brunelles is made with purchased fruit and is 100 per cent syrah aged in 600 litre barrels. The entry is smooth and rich with a spicy, meaty, liquorice root nose. The style is quit elegant with light tannins; more finesse less rusticity if you like. The plate is a mix of black fruit, orange peel, compost and earthy notes. A solid effort from an excellent vintage for mid-term drinking. Ogier suggest a magical match involving scallops and chanterelles.Tasted: 18 January 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
