Domaine de Beaurenard Boisrenard Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2005

Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceMade from 60-80 year old vines it is unfiltered and aged in wood about 18 months. The mix is 70% grenache, rest equal syrah, mourvèdre less 10 per cent cinsault and the rest of the 13 grapes grown in the appellation. At just over seven years old this Boisrenard is displaying an inviting tea and five-spice nose mixed with smoky floral game aromas. The attack is full bodied and rich but slightly unyielding at this point as if it has gone into a bit of a dumb stage. Best to let this one sleep in the cellar for another three years at least.Tasted: 20 January 2013Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:
