M. Chapoutier Les Arènes Cornas 2007

Cornas, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceBlack plum, garrigue, roast pepper, savoury, floral, gamey, curry, barnyard and prune aromas. Ripe, round, full palate with some grainy tannin and good acidity. Peppery, tobacco, roasted pepper, licorice root, gamey, garrigue, prune and saddle leather flavours with a spiced plum finish. A tad rustic and youthful will benefit from 2-5 years aging. The vineyard is on the slopes in the village of Cornas partly on decomposed granite, locally called "Gore" and partly on clay and calcareous alluvial deposits. A great cheese wine after dinner.Tasted: 28 December 2011Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices: BC 65.00 speculative listing - Pacific Wine and Spirits AB 40.00 fine wine stores Producer: M.
