M. Chapoutier Ermitage L'Ermite Rouge 2008
Hermitage, Northern Rhone, Rhone Valley, FranceThe darkest of the three select parcel Ermitage. Very peppery, spicy, curry, black cherry, smoky, gamey, prune, tobacco, barnyard, vanilla and garrigue aromas. Dry, tight, elegant, juicy palate with some youthful tannins and intensity. Smoky, peppery, curry, garrigue, prune, roasted pepper, black cherry, licorice, slate stone, meaty, leather and tobacco flavours. Good complexity and intensity but very youthful, perhaps more tannic than Le Meal.
