Allegrini Palazzo della Torre 2006
Verona, Veneto, ItalyPalazzo is such an elegant wine when compare to so many modern reds that are heavy on fruit and oak. The blend is a 70/25/5 mix of corvina Veronese/rondinella/sangiovese all with a portion of ripasso. Some 70% of the grapes are vinified immediately while the remaining 30% are left to dry until the end of December when they are vinified and re-fermented with the wine from the fresh grapes. There is plenty of Italian dryness but it sits in the background against the red liquorice fruits and peppery tobacco flavours. Serve it with Bolognese now or wait another two years for perfection.Tasted: 01 April 2010Tasted by: Anthony Gismondi and Stuart TobePrices:BC | $30.00 | 750ml | specialty listing |
